The act requires college bookstores to publish textbook lists to anyone asking for the information. One exemption is private universities such as BYU-I. BookViking.com does not have access to an official book list and is dependant on word of mouth of fellow students to give us this information. Books are due by the last day of the current semester. If books are returned in the same condition there will be no additional charges.
- Almost all books rent for $10 - $70 per book per semester.
- If you want to purchase a rental book at the end of the semester then you have the option of paying the difference of the rental price and sale price.

If you buy your books from a campus bookstore:
- 4 books at $100 each is $400:
- On average you get back 40% of the total purchase price which is $160.
- You lost $240 on your textbooks that semester.
If you rented books from BookViking.com:
- 4 textbook rentals at $30 each = $120 total cost for the semester.
